The Villa Mater project redefines the relationship between architecture, environment, and social needs. At its core, the initiative transforms the historic villa into a Senior Social Housing hub, blending respect for tradition with innovative functionality. The design preserves the villa's identity, repurposing its spaces to serve elderly residents and the wider community.
Key interventions focus on sustainability and connection: existing materials are reclaimed and reimagined, and green areas are integrated to promote well-being. The former boundary walls are reconfigured, opening the site to its urban surroundings and creating a dialogue between private and public realms.
Inside, the ground floor becomes a vibrant community space, hosting cultural activities, workshops, and services that invite interaction. The upper floors are transformed into modern, accessible apartments, designed to balance privacy with opportunities for shared living. The restoration extends to annexed buildings, which house flexible spaces for healthcare and leisure.
Villa Mater is more than a building; it’s a catalyst for fostering active aging and social inclusion, rooted in heritage yet oriented toward the future.
